Chair Exercise: Build Even Strength Across Left and Right of Core

Split pedal Chair, 4 Point Kneeling

This exercise is a real challenge even for athletes and performers.

The aim of the exercise is to lift the hands on the pedals in turn, left and right, while maintaining a stable sagittal line, preventing the body from shifting side to side. Lifting the knees just 5cm off the ground lengthens the body’s lever, making it much harder to counteract the natural weight shift of the body, giving the core a really deep workout. Left and right hand side are worked individually, meaning the subject improves not only strength, but also control of their core.

Exercise levels are adjustable to ability and strength, using positioning and props.
